My name is Natalie Strand, and I am an avid memory-keeper and passionate crafter living with my husband and two children in a suburb of Baltimore, MD. All my life, I have felt compelled (in the best possible way!) to creatively document my stories by making scrapbooks, photo albums, and memory books. I got into 12 x 12 scrapbooking in college and graduate school, and I’ve never looked back! My style is almost clean-and-simple…but then I always have to add a lot of layers and dimension, and of course, meaningful journaling. If I’m not scrapbooking, I’m sewing! I love sewing garments for myself and costumes for our whole family. I have been blogging since 2007, and I use my blog as a portfolio to share all of my projects and my thoughts about them. DISNEY Q&A:

What is your favorite Disney movie and why?

I LOVE the original animated Beauty and the Beast, Tangled, and Moana.

Who is your favorite Disney character and why?

I love so many of the princesses (Belle, Rapunzel, Moana, Cinderella…), and it’s so hard to choose just one favorite! I also really like Mrs. Incredible/Elastigirl. I think it’s so awesome how they depicted a superhero mom.

When was the last time you were at a Disney Park?

I was last in Disney World in November 2020, and it was amazing!

What is your favorite ride/attraction at any Disney Park and why?

Kilimanjaro Safari is my favorite attraction–I would ride it again and again if I could! Dumbo was one of the first rides my kids ever rode, and they were utterly delighted, so I will always have a special nostalgic love for Dumbo, too.

Do you have a favorite restaurant or quick service location at a Disney Park?

I have had really delicious food experiences at Disney World, and so it’s going to be hard to choose! However, at our most recent trip to WDW, my husband booked us a dinner at Be Our Guest to celebrate my birthday. The food was amazing, and the atmosphere was completely magical.

Are you a fan of the Disney Princesses? If so, which one and why?

I’m definitely a princess fan! My favorite princesses are Belle– she is smart, determined, and brave, and Rapunzel– she finds joy in everyday things, wears her heart on her sleeve, and encourages her friends to follow their dreams.

Do you have any Disney collections? If so, what do you collect?

I don’t have any Disney collections… unless you count my photographs from our trips to the Parks! (and it’s a big collection!)

Do you decorate with Disney during the holidays?

We have several Disney Christmas ornaments for our tree. One is a photo ornament from our first family trip to Disney World in 2006, and we’ve collected favorite Disney character ornaments– princesses, superheroes, and even Mater!

How often do you go to a Disney Park?

I went to Disney parks twice as a kid (once in middle school, and once in high school). I’ve been twice as an adult: once in early 2016 and once in late 2020. We hope to make it a once-every-few-years kind of tradition for our family.

Rope drop or not?

I’m completely willing to rope drop! On our recent trip, we arrived in Galaxy’s Edge before the parks had “officially” opened, and we had the most incredible experience taking in our surroundings with almost no one else around.

Do you have a favorite night-time show?

In 2016, we had a magical experience watching “Wishes” in the Magic Kingdom, and so that show will always hold a special place in my heart.

Do you have a tradition when you are at a Disney Park (the “must-do” list)?

I love dressing up, so when I go to the parks, I try to Disney-bound every day! On my previous trip in 2006, I wore store-bought clothing in outfits inspired by various princesses, but for this November 2020 trip, I sewed myself a wardrobe of vintage inspired dresses and outfits to ‘bound as my favorite characters. I get my kids and husband involved, too! I made my daughter a set of hand-made princess dresses for her first trip in 2016, and she and my son both ‘bounded’ for the 2020 trip, too. I felt incredible wearing my dresses in the parks, and I am most definitely going to do this again.

What is your favorite land and why?

Fantasyland is one of my favorite places in Magic Kingdom, especially the area that is Tangled-themed! I secretly pretend I’m a princess while I’m soaking in the beautiful scenery!

Do you hunt for hidden Mickey’s?

I love to find Hidden Mickeys if I can! (I even add them to my scrapbook pages…)

Do you have a favorite time of year to go to a Disney Park?

My favorite time of year to go to a Disney Park is when the crowds are at their lowest.

How old were you the first time you went to a Disney Park and what is your first memory?

I was in middle school when I went to Disney World for the first time. We went with extended family, and I remember riding the People Mover several times with my grandma because I was too scared to go on Space Mountain with everyone else! I also have a very sweet memory of eating teriyaki chicken—the first time I’d ever tried it– at Katsura Grill with my mom, dad, and brother while it poured down rain outside. It was cozy and so very delicious.

What’s your favorite traditional Disney treat?

I absolutely LOVE Mickey Bars. They are so chocolatey and creamy….yummmm.

Have you ever made a copy-cat Disney food item at home?

I’ve never tried to make a copycat Disney food at home!

Do you have any pets named after a Disney character?

We don’t have any pets!

What is your ideal Disney Park day?

My ideal day… no crowds, a Mickey Bar in the afternoon, lots of photos, and a spectacular firework display to top off the evening.
