I wanted to do something really special with these photos of my nieces from our trip with them to Walt Disney World. I changed the photos to sepia and colorized the bows on their mouse ears so that the photos really stand out.
This layered accent piece was fun to make. The polka-dot heart sticker was perfect to coordinate with the bows on the girls’ mouse ears. I also added the black and white baker’s twine to the balloons for a more dimensional element to the cluster.
I chose to use vellum on my page layered between the photos and the background to not only soften the patterns in the papers slightly, but to create an almost gaussian-like frame around my photos.
I have a large format printer, so I will often print my journaling around the outside edge of the page so there is more room on the page for photos and embellishments.
Do you have any extra-special photos that you are struggling with getting scrapbooked? This sepia technique with a few colorized elements might be exactly what they need! Give it a try and share your results in our gallery.
