This page was inspired by everyone’s (well, almost everyone’s) favorite tropical treat. I think my daughters are missing the chromosome that makes people love Dole Whips so much! At least I know I’ll always get to finish theirs.

I wanted to add lots of texture to this page with leaf die cuts and floral accents. Some of the leaves were cut from mulberry paper that I lightly attached to cardstock with adhesive spray to make them rigid and easier to handle when die cutting. Other leaves were cut from a leaf patterned paper using a cutting die as well. I wanted the plain paper flowers to have more dimension, so I poked a hole in the middle and added flower stamens I had purchased from the craft store. They are attached on the underside of the flower with a dot of hot glue to hold them in place.

I distressed and inked the edges of the woodgrain patterned paper to give it a more realistic, dimensional appearance. I started doing this to woodgrain patterned paper I was using years ago, and it is still one of my favorite techniques. It’s just a little detail that doesn’t take much time, but I feel has a big impact.

Now aren’t you craving Dole Whips! I know I am! Thanks for stopping by!
