Ahhhhh! What a lovely day for a sketch challenge! Is it Summer where you are? Here in Idaho, June signals the beginning of longer days and warmer weather. Meaning summer has officially arrived!
Unfortunately, we have only a few days of pleasant summer weather before it gives way to the blistering heat that dominates the high mountain desert ’til late September. At the first sign of triple digit temps, I’m back indoors to escape the heat and ready to get my scrap on!
And one of the first things I reach for as a starting point is a sketch! That’s why I love to see the Design Team’s interpretation of the same sketch for the Monthly Sketch Challenge!
It never ceases to amaze me how they can all start with the same sketch and end up with such vastly different yet equally beautiful pages.
This weeks sketch can be found in our archive in either 12″x12″ or 8.5″x11″ and is an excellent starting point for your own fabulous projects! Just like the sketch you can even add the Mickey Sketched Head Cut File from our archives for your background!
Check out the amazing pages by the DCC Design Team and see if you can spot where they stayed true the sketch and where they changed it up!
“Festival of Fantasy” by Emily Adams
Emily mirrored the sketch so it worked better for her photo layout.
We LOVE how she layered her “Fantasy” title die cut with black behind it to make it really stand out!
“Magic” by Vicki Von Richter
Vicki followed the sketch to a “T” and we are loving it! She even mimicked the cross stitching on the sketch by added it to her page with a pen. This “pen stitching” technique is a great way to add a bit of visual interest with the “look” of stitching without having to break out a needle and embroidery floss (and a lot less painful if you accidentally hit your finger!)
“Minnie Mouse” by Natalie Strand
Natalie went “all out” for her amazing scrapbook page as well as her adorable outfit she made to wear to Hollywood Studios! Both turned out absolutely perfect!
We love how her gold sparkly stenciled stars on her background go perfectly with her glitter gold title letters.
The Minnie Mouse silicone flatback embellishment is a perfect finishing touch, along with a gold sparkly facet from the Classic Collection Facets.
Supplies by Scraps & Ink Crafts: Mickey Sketched Head cut file, Classic Collection Facets, Mouse & Balloon Silicone Flatback Embellishment Set.
“The Parade” by Jackie Ashton
Jackie raised the bar by using two different cutting dies to create embellishments on her page! Can you spot them? The fun new Mouse Alpha Cutting Die worked perfectly for Jackie’s title while the Mouse Circles Cutting Die Set was used to create fun little yellow circles peeking out from behind her photos and other layers like pops of sunshine!
We hope you’ve found inspiration in the team’s projects this week! Be sure to tag us on social media to share what you’ve created!
Have a magical day!
