This month’s “Colors of Magic” color palette is inspired by a photo Kristin took of Cinderella’s Castle on a lovely Spring day! This iconic Magic Kingdom landmark is always a sight to see as its glimmering spires reach upward into the beautiful Florida skies. Those amazing blues of the sky and castle turret roofs feature prominently in this month’s palette, along with a neutral kraft/tan and a lush leafy green.
Let’s take a look at how our amazing Design Team used the colors in this month’s palette:
“Dreams” by Kristin Fougeron
Kristin created her page using an adorable castle die from Scraps & Ink Crafts in a soft blue. LOVE how she tucked flowers in fresh spring colors behind the photos and die cut! Her use of the torn green textured cardstock helps ground her photos visually. This page perfectly conveys all kinds of happiness and joy in a place where dreams do come true!
“Main Street Shopping” by Natalie Strand
Natalie created this lovely monochromatic layout featuring a clever pocket for park ephemera that includes packaging, tags, receipts and other bits from shopping on Main Street. What a great reminder that scrapbooking can include so much more than just photos!
The blue Mickey paper clip and silver padded mouse applique from Scraps and Ink Crafts is a fun way to add a bit of shine and texture.
“Sleeping Beauty Castle” by Michelle Sinclair
There are soooo many things we just love about Michelle’s page! Each rectangle is its own work of art with clever layers of bits and baubles for dimension and texture!
Michelle has an amazing eye for design with her placement of each little layered accent and embellishment!
We love how she added bits of sparkle to her page with the Disney-Inspired Facets by Scraps & Inks Crafts.
Michelle also used actual pages from a Sleeping Beauty storybook to create her punched accents! This is a fantastic technique if you are struggling to find themed supplies. If you are a bit hesitant to start cutting up pages of a beloved book, photocopies work just as well!
It’s Glow Time! by Heather Ribble
Brand new and talented Design Team Member, Heather Ribble, chose to use blue as her dominant color for this vibrant 2-page layout. We are in love with how she used so many great photos and that blue makes everything pop! She perfectly captures the vibe of “The Wave” restaurant inside the Contemporary Resort in Walt Disney World!
Just like Natalie, Heather also used a silver padded mouse applique from Scraps and Ink Crafts to add a fun bit of sparkle to her page. Great minds think alike!
We can’t help but smile at Heather’s photos of what looks to be a fantastic time with friends!
Lots of silvery glitter and shine really make Heather’s page sparkle!
“Magical Fun on Main Street” by Lacey Robin
Also new to the Disney Creative Co. Design Team, Lacey shared her amazing talent with us and created this fantastic page using kraft as her background. Such a versatile neutral, this color really allows her other page elements to pop!
If you’ve ever had the great fortune of having Disney merchandise shipped to you, one of the surprises you’ll find in the box is this simply adorable blue tissue paper with lots of classic Disney characters and icons used to wrap your new goodies!
We are swooning over how Lacey recycled the tissue paper to create her cute Mickey balloon! So clever! Check out her meticulous stitching around the edge. Impressive!
Lacey’s stamping technique definitely makes us smile “from ear to ear” too!
“Disney Family” by Vicki Von Richter
We are excited to share another fab new Design Team Member’s work using this color palette.
Vicki recreated the silhouette of the castle in a stunning watercolor background! We just LOVE the added texture of the fireworks and stars, not to mention that incredible chain stitching as an outline to her watercolor. Fantastic work Vicki!
“The Castle” by Jackie Ashton
Jackie is also another new and talented Design Team Member here at Disney Creative Co.! We are so lucky that she will be sharing her amazing work with us throughout the year!
She has already impressed us with her take on this month’s color challenge! She really lets her stunning photo of the Disneyland Paris Castle take center stage by backing it with vibrant blues and touches of green. Much like Lacey, she chose to use the kraft/tan color as a neutral base to let the other colors pop! Love it Jackie!
“This Happened” by Emily Adams
The last, but definitely NOT least, of our new talented Design Team members is Emily and we are so fortunate to have her share her talents with us!
Emily focused on using every color in this month’s color palette and she did so beautifully! Is there a more perfect patterned paper to capture photos with Pocahontas than that feather background?! We think not!
We LOVE that Emily used bits of washi from the Animal Kingdom Set 2 by Scraps & Ink Crafts near the upper-left corner of her page to create a bit of visual interest.
A bit more washi in the opposite corner creates a subtle visual balance to the entire page and “anchors” her photo. Emily also carries the blue colors in the palette through to this same corner by using a blue epoxy dot.
The pop of green from the Frosted Mouse Paper Clip adds an element of fun! Fantastic page Emily!
