This project uses a Pocket Frame and “Love Letter DIY Insert Kit” by Details2Enjoy as well as unfinished Mickey and Minnie wooden pieces from Scraps & Inks Crafts. The frame, kit and pieces all come unfinished, so the possibilities are truly endless to create your very own custom work of art! Since I wanted to create a piece that allowed the hearts and mouse heads to really stand out, I chose paint colors and patterned paper that I felt would help achieve this look.

I began by painting the front and sides of all envelope pieces with craft paint. I chose a sky blue for my envelope color and a striped patterned paper for “inside” my envelope.

I painted just the edges of the largest heart in the kit a berry red since the front will be covered with red patterned paper.

I placed the heart on my red floral patterned paper, tracing around the edges. I then cut it out and adhered it to the front of the heart with craft glue. I trimmed off any excess with micro-tip scissors.

I painted the remaining hearts in various shades of pink and red. I painted the Mickey and Minnie wooden pieces in black (and red for the bows) and allowed everything to dry thoroughly.

I trimmed and adhered a polka dot pattern paper to the insert panel with craft glue.

I removed the backing from the D2E kit pieces and placed them on the insert panel following the easy-to-use template included in the kit. I love that D2E has included this template for a mistake-proof way to add the different pieces.

I added my Mickey and Minnie pieces to the insert panel using layers of foam mounting tape for added dimension. I finished the project off with a small round “love” sticker.

I love the look of the natural wood frame, so I simply coated it lightly with finishing wax and buffed it to a beautiful satin finish before inserting my decorated panel.

I think this framed piece would fit perfectly in the home of any Disney fan, but it looks especially good in mine! Many thanks to Cassandra and Kenzi at Details2Enjoy for sponsoring this project and providing so many wonderful products for us to use!
