I love using sketches as starting points for my layouts. In some cases, the end result is very similar to the original sketch, and in other cases, the end result is simply inspired by the sketch. I think that this layout is on the latter end of that spectrum!
That being said, I think you can still see where the sketch informed my design: the journaling on the left, the alternating grid of photos and embellishments, and the horizontal strips at the top and bottom of the focal block. I’ve compressed the double-page layout into a single page.
